The two biggest differences between futon frames are the materials they are built from and the folding mechanism they employ. Futon frames are usually made from either wood, metal or a combination of both. There are two types of folding mechanisms; bi-fold and tri-fold. Bi-fold is by far the most popular and recommended for most consumers as it offers a cleaner look and easier to operate.
